What Is My Grandma Was Green?
“Examining the past in order to live more sustainably and simply in the present.”
My Grandma Was Green chronicles my one year commitment to unearthing the practices from my grandparents generation that were naturally more sustainable and simple than the way I live today. While there is need for innovation and creativity in order to live more sustainably, I think I can learn a lot by simply looking back a few generations. As grandma would say, “There is no need to reinvent the wheel!”
My year of living like “grandma” officially started on June 23, 2008 with my first blog post called A Letter to My Grandma. My year will end on June 23, 2009.
I am going to interview my grandparents throughout the year and try to incorporate the more sustainable practices of their generation into my modern day life. Each practice I implement is called a Grandma Challenge. I invite you to join me in each challenge and welcome stories from your own life, as well as your grandparents, your great-grandparents and beyond. You can share them in the comments section of a related post or email me at april@mygrandmawasgreen.com
